On Saturday, March 16, 2024,
members of the Seventh-day Adventist church in Rumuokurusi, Rumukuorusi
District had joy in their hearts and smiles on their faces as they strolled out
of the worship arena to share their faith to their host community and also to
invited friends for the second week of the “Amazing Love” evangelistic
campaign.
The preacher, Pastor Samuel
Egelemba Iruolor- President of Port Harcourt East conference in his divine
service ministration, drawn from one of the most popular Bible stories ever in
1 Samuel 17:42-47; the Biblical account of David and Goliath, described life as
a giant that presents its powers to individuals differently; and admonished the
members to be courageous, faithful, and trusting God to overcome what seems
impossible.
“To David, the battle with
Goliath and the victory hitherto was to glorify God, who would restore Israel’s
freedom. Until you see things in God's perception, only then can his strength
aid you in surmounting all life’s challenges.
“Today we hear people say that
they can’t do this or that for the Lord because the Lord has not called them
into a particular service. David didn’t wait to be called. David volunteered to
put his life on the line for God’s honor.
“Friends, when you are willing to
go for mission, like David God will go with you and his armor will be your
strength. Remember, the scripture said, the battle is of the Lord. He vibrated
on the pulpit.
To buttress the threat of the Philistine to the Israelites, the Minister who was on his Adventist youth regalia to mark this year’s “global youth day” did a historical, anatomical and physical description of the Philistine warrior and assured the congregation of the ever-presence of the Lord in their life’s battles.
“Friends, the Lord is ever ready to fight our battles. Those wishing for your downfall will be embarrassed because the Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace.
“You may be facing some great obstacles in your life today, but what have you seen God accomplish in the past, don’t you think He is able to continue to work in greater ways in the future? Allow those past victories to encourage you to attempt greater things for the Lord. He assured.
The members who were greatly inspired as the words sank deep in their hearts listened with rapt attention as the clergy called on members to be bold in the face of obstacles, spiritually prepared to approach the enemy, build a strong cord of faith in Christ and deliberately focused on God for life’s victory.
At the end of the Sabbath worship, five souls accepted the teachings and gave their lives to Jesus through baptism and fellowship with the church.
