Speaking to A-media PHC, the Cleric expressed hope that the token will not only complement the efforts of churches who hitherto had already reached out to the less privileged members in their communities and neigbourhood but the Palliative will go a long way to alleviate the hardship indigent church members are experiencing as a result of the lock down order by the Rivers State Government.
“This Palliative
which we want to give to indigent members of the Church, our brothers and
Sisters who are facing difficult times because of the Covid-19 Pandemic; a
worldwide health problem that has ravaged the world”.
“Here today we present
the quantity of rice as Palliatives to members who are faced with hunger. This
is one way we wish to show that we are concerned about the welfare needs of our
members”.
“We want our
members to receive this Palliatives from us with our prayers. We want them to
know that we are praying for them and that we are concern about the situation
they are going through. But we believe that Gog will see us through.
While encouraging the people to hold on to
their profession of faith in God and make use of the lock down period to
strengthen the bond of fellowship with their family members, the cleric
clarified that the Church will always adhere to extant laws and directive of
the government in their interest to stop the spread of the virus.
He however called on members to use this period of covid-19 to reunite their faith in God by Building strong Altars in their various homes.
“We want to
encourage our members that though the city is locked down, our relationship
with God can never be lock down. So let our relationship with God be steadfast.
“In our various
homes, let the family altar be reactivated through Bible studies, prayers, all
the weekly programmes let us faithfully observe them with our children and
entire family. I am sure that even in the mist of this pandemic God’s blessings
will abide with you all.
He further encouraged church members to imbibe the safety measures such as regular washing of hands, use of hand sanitizer, social distancing, stay at home order and use of face mask among others to avoid contacting the deadly corona virus.
