Elder, Happy Abali |
If you’ve been connected
to social media or any news source over the past few months, you should have
seen the constant stream of new updates — of countries on lockdown, travel
restrictions, numbers of reported cases and deaths, not to mention reports on
the global economy.
It’s no secret that the
sudden onset of Novel COVID-19 has become the central focus of the whole world,
making many fear the uncertainty of what’s ahead.
Though everything feels
chaotic and uncertain but in furtherance of Gods work on earth, and in
assurance of his promise, Elder Happy Abali on Saturday, admonished the Adventist congregation not to lose hope
as the novel corona virus continues to ravage the society, he believed that
there would be a positive turn in the course of things.
Preaching
at Seventh-day Adventist Church Mgbouba in Rumuiepirikom District, The amiable
and Iconic leader asseverated that the unprecedented events of the past few months
occasioned by the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic had made it imperative for Nigerians
to seek the face of God more than ever before.

He
pointed out that Christians must learn how to develop patience, a virtue that
is needed if truly we trust in God.
“We need to know God, knowing God is our problem.
There is no temptation and trial that will overwhelm us if we trust in the
Lord.
“Jesus was tempted in every respect, yet never asked God
why. He was hungry, chastised, and abused for our sake.
“So if Jesus can
do all this on earth, to fulfill all righteousness, then we too should not
think the road will be easy.
“If we must go to heaven, let’s be prepared to fulfill
all righteousness.
He
maintained that only the merciful intervention of God as exemplified by Jesus
Christ who fulfilled all righteousness and died for the salvation of mankind
on the cross can deliver the country from being devastated by the virus.
He
therefore, urge members to collectively and individually, make concerted
efforts to deal with the issues arising from the pandemic, it is nothing but
the hand of God that can grant us the victory that we need over it.
“As
Christians who worship a living God, we must not despair but dig into the
strength of our faith and stand on our conviction that He has solutions to all
our problems, He maintained that the deadly COVID-19 pandemic would soon be
over.
The revered man of God said because
Jesus was not dead but alive, the deadly virus, which has made the whole world
go on a compulsory holiday, would be gone very soon.
“GOD is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in
trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the
mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and
the mountains quake with their surging.
“There is a river whose
streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts His voice, the earth melts. The
LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
It’s necessary to take
time to be real about the emotions you’re feeling — fear, anxiety, stress,
confusion — but remember where you find your hope during times of
uncertainty. We pray you find comfort in God’s presence today, remembering He
has complete control of the circumstances that is going on around us.
