The Journey to Plateau State (Jos) for the 3rd National Summit in 2019 is
such a fascinating experience to reminisce on. And I’d love to share them with
you!
I recall vividly that during the period of registration, we could
perceive this somewhat pessimistic attitude hovering amongst Corps members
across the regions, partly as a result of the heightened security quagmire in
the country and of course finance! And if I must admit, these points are
legitimate! So as the lead of the press team, we deployed the social media and
other available publicity channels to buoy up corps members to be part of the
life changing experience. And trust we did a good job.
Did you just see “life changing experience''?
Absolutely!
All thanks to the National Director Mrs. Victoria Hope-Anama, who really swayed Corps members from every part of the country to be part of the historic Journey. This was also not achieved without intense prayers too.
The Journey Began…
From Clifford University, Abia State in 2017 to Babcock University Ogun
State in 2018 all the way down to Jos in Plateau State in 2019.
Many of our registered corps members were threatened by the news of
killings and kidnappings by the herdsmen making the headlines. In fact some
parents zipped up the idea of traveling such as distance but then again, which
parent will advise their children to travel that long route with news on the
dailies reverberating the malevolent deeds carried out by hoodlums masquerading
as herdsmen and Boko-Haram.
Well the truth is—we were strong-willed to uphold God's Banner amidst threat to halt the summit. The biggest of them all was the call from our Union leaders in Nigeria to cancel the summit….you needed to be on social media to see the reactions of everyone…it was a tough dilemma because every decision taken will count for or against us.
I promise to download all that transpired
on a special episode.
Friends, I tell you, that was the last straw that nearly collapsed the
very foundation of NAAC, however, God
prevailed. Alleluia!
The good thing about this tale is that regardless of the challenges from
registration, transportation and fear of Security, All Registered Delegates
arrived in one piece. Though, the luxurious bus that brought our People from
the East got missing a few hours before they cried out for help….
Then what happened next?
First, Go and Register for 2021 4th National Summit in Port Harcourt.
