RSTV EMERGED CHAMPIONS OF 2018 SWAN HENRY KALIO CUP

The 3rd edition of the SWAN Henry Kalio Cup came to an exciting end yesterday with Rivers State Television emerging Champions following a 4-1 victory over Today FM at the Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Last year's runners up RSTV raced into a two-goal lead inside 15 minutes of play and held on till half time with a dominant display.

But 10 minutes after the restart, Alakahia-based Today FM halves the deficit to set the tone for a fitting finale.

However, hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished by Soprinye Jaja's men with two more goals to claim the title.

Earlier in the day, former champions Treasure FM settles for a bronze medal after edging out Cool/Wazobia/Info 1-0 in the third place game.
Canny Nwikanee of RSTV emerged the MVP of the tournament ahead of Ghanaman and Sawadinho. The diminutive RSTV striker also claimed the golden boot award with 10 goals to his credit.

Today FM's Emmanuel Olugbenga won the best defender award while Alade Titus of Cool/Wazobia/Info took home the golden gloves for his outstanding work between the sticks.

Modest Old GRA outfit, Deinma Abaku's Wave FM also won the best behaved team award.

The SWAN Henry Kalio Cup is held annually in memory of the former chairman of the Sports Writers Association Of Nigeria (Rivers State Chapter), Late Henry Kalio and is eligible for all media houses within the state.
