It was such an exciting moment seeing PST. Y.U Harry, the Northern Union conference president formally declared the Abuja summit opened. The clergy in company of other church dignitaries that day, inspected the parade guard, and the match pass.

The President in his address applauded the effort of the NAAC leaders and encouraged strong partnership that will help drive mission activities in Northern Nigeria.

According to him, Nigeria falls under the 10/40 region where it is difficult to propagate the gospel, as it is majorly populated by Muslims. Hence, the project 'NAAC' was initiated for the Northern people.

“I want to say it Crystal clear that it is a very welcome initiative. Right from the inception about six years ago, I have given my support for this initiative. We know the experience we go through with Corps members, some of them don't have accommodations, right at the camp, some of them done have the privilege to worship on Sabbath.

“|Since I couldn't meet up with your Programme in Jos three years ago, I made up my mind to grace the opening ceremony today and welcome you all myself. My territory is a very vast one, it covers 17 state and FCT and it falls within the 10/40 windows. It is a tough area, dominated by Islam, Buddhism, Hindus etc.

Pst. Y. U Harry further disclosed how thrilled he has been since the programme started and advice that there should be need for a Collaboration between NAAC and other key ministries of the Seventh Day Adventist Church as an initiative for further growth of the Association.

"You have our supports, both financially and morally 100%. I have promised that I will take the news of this association to the GC President through the WAD administration for mission in Northern Nigeria.

“I need the proposal for this project, it will be part of my mission, report, request and challenges to the GC officers.  He explained.

Similarly, the National Director, Mrs. Victoria Hope-Anama, thanked the Northern leaders for their continuous assistance to NAAC scheme within the region.

She called for more support from the three union leadership in the areas of provision of Kopa’s lodge, welfare and training of Corps members during their service year.

“I am so happy, in fact I am thrilled, because despite the challenges NAAC has continued to show why their existence is imperative. I am even more happy to see the leadership of Northern Nigeria Union Conference NNUC towards NAAC.

“Their presence at the summit shows that we have the backing of the church. They are here to listen to our needs and yearnings and partner with us to achieving our mission goals. She said.

More than 150 delegates participated at the just concluded NAAC summit held at Government Secondary School, Kuje, FCT, Abuja, with the theme “I WILL GO: REFOCUSED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. Delegates comprises of prospective Corps members, Corps members, Ex-Corps members and Non-Adventist friends.

Like the Chairman, Central working Committee, Mrs. Ihuoma Uchenwa, assured delegates at the start of the summit, the powwow had memorable activities that will be reminisced in the hearts of many who attended.
