Pastor Prof. Robert Osei-Bonsu, the President of the West-Central Africa Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, arrived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State at noon on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 for the ENUC Pentecost exchange of Pulpit evangelism. He will be the guest speaker at Mboshimini, Port Harcourt District, till the 21st of January, and he will be ministering at the forthcoming Eastern Nigeria Union Conference (ENUC) festival of Baptism at Aba, Abia State.
The ENUC President highly represented by the evangelism and Chaplaincy Director Pastor Uzoma Nwosi, President of the Port Harcourt Conference, Pastor, Dr. Anyalebechi Nnunukwe, and some of his executives were on the ground waiting for his boarded flight as he arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport with his wife and other WAD Directors.
The clergyman was delighted to see the geographic layout of Nigeria's treasure base as they traveled from the airport to the city's metropolis. Pastor Bonsu, was met at the church headquarters in Rumoukwuta by huge crowds, the youths blowing their trumpets, and church leaders in large numbers, much like the triumphal entry of the Savior in Jerusalem.
In a Press briefing and banquet at the Conference Board room, the host, Pastor Anyalebechi Nnunukwe (Ph.D), enumerated the mission growth, developmental push, and future aspirations of his administration during a press conference and banquet at the Conference Board room.
“We are elated and privileged that God has brought you to our territory, to help champion the course of mission work in one of our District.
On the planned re-organization, the cleric avers “By God’s grace, we have acquired plots of lands, and we bless the name of the Lord for empowering the conference with mission focused leaders and members who are not tired of soul winning.
“Our vision for restructuring Port Harcourt Conference is mission driven and not for division sake. We have the manpower and other resources to lay this foundation and with unity of purpose, we are certain that this vision will be realized. He noted.
The Division President quickly responded by thanking the leaders and members for their cordial welcome. He praised the conference present and previous leaders for their foresight in erecting such an edifice with modern day infrastructure and the architectural design at the secretariat; the work of the laypeople in the overall expansion of the church here. And he urged the leadership to continue their efforts to win souls, which he saw as the ultimate objective, while encouraging the membership to remaining focused and committed.
The president continued by saying that his goal in visiting Port Harcourt was to announce the centenary vision of the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference (ENUC) and that they would work with ENUC to beam their mission satellite in various areas of the union. Fortunately, Port Harcourt conference serves as the hub of mission activities.
“When I was appointed, the ENUC President, Pastor Bassey told me about the Centenary celebration this year, so I talked with the General conference President to be part of it.
“So on our calendar, we decided to launch mission by partnering with ENUC this year. That is why all our Directors are in the ENUC territory to work with you and to do something great that will have ripple effect in all other union within WAD. He Asseverated.
Pastor Robert concluded by supporting the conference's reorganization and expressing the hope that the evident cooperation and effort shown in the area if continue, they envision returning to instate the proposed union and conferences.
“The conference re-organization indeed is a good plan, and we should focus more on establishing more souls winning institutions and ventures like schools and hospitals.
“These Institutions may not be profit oriented, but are strong channels for mission. Those who attends our schools may not be converted but will surely love us. We should take advantage and have chaplains in these institutions so that our impact as a church will be felt by them. He said.
