Encouraged by the news of 150,000 baptisms in Rwanda and Tanzania respectively, the church in Nigeria has decided to give the Lord an offering of 100,000 baptisms between 2020 and 2023 when the church will celebrate 100 years in eastern Nigeria.

In line with this vision, Port Harcourt Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday 3rd May at Rumoukwuta, inaugurated her team for Pentecost 2023.

This is a dream come true,” said Brother Azukoye Amadi , The Coordinator of Pentecost 2023 at the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference (ENUC), who was live at the inauguration. Brother Azukoye also engaged the newly inaugurated members in light training and orientation on the task ahead.

Speaking at the ceremony, Brother Azukoye Amadi said “There is going to be a celebration and part of the celebration is to do a thanks offering of a minimum of one hundred souls. Though the Union mentioned a hundred thousand soul and we are determine to do the work to win these souls to God’s kingdom as promised, however, let the Holy spirit choose his numbers.”

“Evangelism is what we as a church have been doing, Pentecost 2023 is not different, but Pentecost 2023 is just the combination of different styles. The major difference with the other evangelism is that there is a shift of emphasis from the church to the individual.” He opined.

The powwow, which was gracefully attended by divinely selected men and women from their various districts and zones was packaged to orient, train and prepare them for service.

Adventist Media PHC, reported that Pastor Solomon Okonu, Port Harcourt Conference Coordinator for Pentecost 2023 at inauguration, welcomed and encouraged the zones and District Coordinators to be steadfast and committed in the spiritual work that lies ahead. He pleaded to the selected few to consecrate themselves and enhance their spiritual lives in other to fulfill the task or responsibility given to them.


“You have been called to coordinate evangelism and the devil is not happy with anyone who is charged with such huge spiritual responsibility geared towards expanding the kingdom of God. Hence the need for you to step up your prayer life.”

“We need to do more praying than planning, more praying than communicating, we need to do more praying than strategizing. 

"And if our prayer lives is up there. Every other thing we falls in.”

Earlier, The Conference President, Pastor Anyalebechi Nnunukwe in his devotional, had charged the newly inaugurated zonal Coordinators to be committed in the discharged of their duties and responsibility. 



The highlight of the ceremony was the consecration of  The Port Harcourt Conference Pentecost  2023 Team by Pastor Anyalebechi Nnunukwe, President Port Harcourt Conference of Seventh -day Adventist Church.
