The Diary of a PPA: 17 DAYS TO GO #THEUNTOLDSTORYOFAYOTHCORPER

The sole question I kept asking was “what should I do to add meaning to my life? This I ponder on daily basis at my Primary Place of Assignment (PPA). Soon after our NYSC passing out Parade (POP).

You need be there to see the joy and the desire in the heart of my PPA colleagues to travel back to the different destinations they hail from. Some to seek for greener pastures, some of them were feed up living in the environment, while some had personal reasons for such hastiness. But before then, in my daily Socratic interaction with them I had always ask—“what are the plans installed to better your status after service?

My colleagues! Wonderful people they are indeed, some are troublesome, some are funny, some are chameleonic and pretensive and some their erratic personality is indescribable. But the un-predictive nature of human made me believe that they all have their excellent, good and ugly parts.

It was fun having them around.

Yes it was!

CHIKA OSIFO AND AGUVA LUCY: were already serving when I joined them. Being the only male among them, they treated me like a king. To be honest here, they were courageous and outstanding both in Character and as academic corpers. At every point in time they always knew what they wanted. The maturity they displayed in handling issues around them was awesome—who will fill the vacuum they left in my PPA was the rhetorical question, and I knew the onus was on me to keep the spirit of unity already chaquered. The Delta born, Chika smiles so lovely, and I admired her a lot, hey don’t think far.

             Hahahaah.

Lucy so beautiful, but a no nonsense personality. Of course as females they must gossip about event around them, but never did they hurt even an ant in their locale. What a perfect legacy. Chika was spiritually inspiring, never stayed a weekend without attending church service, hmmmmm, girl! U may not know how well you also motivated me then. For Lucy the Benue born, I was inspired whenever we rob mind on “what next after service” thanks you both, Its memorable knowing and living with the duo who behave more like twin. Their understanding was perfect. Tomps up ladies.

BLESSING CHIKA NYEBUCHI: hmmmmm, she calls me Broda mi. more like a sister to me, a fellow Pitakwa (Portharcout) indigene who hails from the ikweere extraction.  She was perfect in her relationship with many in my PPA. She has a killer smile and a kind heart. Ble..ble! She’s distinguished among her pals. Though she plays a lot but dislike people taking her for granted. If you understand her like I do, you will live with her for a thousand years happily. She won the award of the BEST COOK in my PPA, and no doubt a very romantic fellow. She can advice for Africa eeeer, and likes traveling to Benin Republic, Togo and Lagos hahahahaha. I will always miss her love and care. Asanwa! Mekaweh….

ADEJOKE FUMILAYO AROWORO: describing you makes me elated. She was the   BOSSLADY at my PPA. Very sober in heart, the first I met her was when I came back fully for the one year service. Babe! I remember the wonderful vegetable soup you cooked that night, wow, it was so delicious and I ran back the next day from school just to reunite with the food hahhahaha. I christened her “Joks” her face can be very moody when she’s angry eeeehn… very social and we both roll so much when it come to party and enjoyment. With her there’s no Boring moments, she’s always the playful type if you understand her, and she can be very kind. Jokiano, I will not forget your gingering spirit and your posh looks.

ADENIKE, ABIKE ABUBAKAR: hmmmmmm, this Kwara born possessed silent but very salient personality. Her name reminds me always of a sports Brand “NIKE” am thinking of the word to use in applauding your Beauty. She can interact with guys for African eeer, may be because she feels unsafe with her fellow ladies. Heralded as a wonderful Chemistry teacher in my PPA, a fellow who is not moved by insignificant stuffs. This lady believe her sef to the core. Do you know I admired your sense of acuity and maturity? Hahahahah…

She was the first to be accommodated in that lonely school environment and will always encourage and motivate me to come join her. An affable fellow indeed, I so much loved and enjoyed they way she speaks different Nigerian Languages. Tomps up dear. But I will not forget the length of time it will always take her to cook one pot of soup “am lol”. She won the award as the BEST FEMALE ACCADEMIC Corper in my PPA no doubt a very intelligent lady. Strive on dear; the sky is up there for you.

BANKOLE ADETORO MERCY: the quietest among my colleagues in the PPA, a physical and health expert, this lady can save her ALLAWEE for World Bank eeehr. Her sporty nature makes her looks like a primary school student hahahhaha… but always prompts in all she wants to do. An indigene of Ogun state (Ewekero) precisely. Was the MOST RATED AND CONSISTENT CORPER then at my PPA, very flexible in thinking and like a snail, will not want any whahala with anyone around her. Merciless, Like I use to call her. Sometimes can be very tightfisted. One thing I will miss about her is her maturity and let’s do it attitude. Weldon dear! Your future husband will enjoy you eeer.

FEMI OLAGBAYE TOSIN: formally posted to Ilugun Central Accademy but joined my PPA on the 30th of June last year. A very sharp Nigga, who loves enjoyment and likes contributing to anything that will bring our togetherness in the PPA. I call him Mr. Trophy hahhahaaa, very dedicated in school activities and hardly absent him-self from classes on a norm.

Femi, a wonderful Corper! Nicknamed Mr. I don’t care by my colleagues in the PPA, this guy like to speak their Language (Yoruba) for Africa eeer.

An incredible young man he is. Very plane like water with a blend of acidic substance when he gets irritated. He calls me “My Proffessor friend” and I like him for he’s enlightened, open and for his unparallel chameleonic quietness.

The Ondo State born though not Notable in my PPA as a philanthropist. His argumentative tendencies makes many feels repugnant about him, while some lays him off for holding strongly to what he beliefs without accommodating different deas (the thought of others), but lo, this guy has and understanding partnership with me, and like Ronaldo and Messi—we respected our different paths. I see change coming your way soon Bro.

AYOBAMI AYODEJI ADEMOLA.. Scripturally christened himself as ‘Hepzipah’. How do I even start describing this young man? Yes! He is a well-known Clown because of his funny attributes. Formally posted to the Local Government Secretariat before trickily been dragged to my PPA. Some calls him MR. AGO, he has a BIG HEAD that fits no cap, but was popularly known as AY. More closely attached to me than any other of my colleagues in the PPA. Personally enjoyed all the time we had together, with many of his attributes that can be written and published in a book. hhahhah (meet me when you wish to write youri autobiography).

The name Ayobami is dramaticle, and the scene perfectly displayed in his time as a corper in my PPA. I like him for his spirit of Es-pirit ‘d’ Corp,  friendship, thoughfullness, and care. This guy they make call for Asia eeeehr, he won the award as the BEST COMEDIAN in my PPA  and  He’s reputed for the movies he acted in Self pity, self stinginess, fear, and academic indolence. It is paradoxical how his effort to be good to all his PPA colleagues ended up in futility as everyone became unsafe, and scared of his inner person. Wow, can’t remember seeing him stay at home for a day all through our service days. This guy loves to hang around the place we call (ITA-Isonyin). And I so much love him for his desire to learn from people ahead of him and his hatred towards making trouble, but ironically always entangled by self warranted wahala.

An icon in gluttony and a loquacious being indeed. Very fluent in Yoruba and his facial gesture is a comic relief capable of healing the broken hearted. What an Irony! He’s one guy that loves women, but too scared to have anything doing with them. Regardless of the role he played in MY PPA DIARY, the distinguishing nature of his personality will play out in the nearest future if only he can adhere and learn from the good things we taught him. He is yet to know his actual identity, as he claims to have come from both Osun and Oyo state respectively.

OFEM JOSEPH OKPA: the last man standing in my Batch. A South-South Brother from Cross River. An astute fellow, a guy man to the core. Very gentle and clever, a risk taker, his desire for academic growth is just overwhelming. His eye balls explains better that he is a VISUAL ARTIST Hahahhahah… popularly nickname (Calaba man) in my PPA. Won the Award as the WHATS UP PASTOR always inspiring students daily in the junior secondary. A very coded colleague, his ideas are top notch. His respect and humble character prompted the closeness and friendship we both shared. Very outspoken in English, and a no nonsense fellow.

This guy does his thing mildly without recourse to what anyone says about him. He became more of a companion when others disserted the PPA, like people being hunted. Josi, as I call him, will be remembered for his simple lifestyle and humble charisma.

Conclusively, Benjamin Franklin once said:
“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning”.
This implies that every great achievement was once considered impossible. Nothing is as real as a dream. Have the courage to reach for it. You are on the road to success when you realize that failure is only a detour.

To you all my wonderful PPA colleagues, regardless of how far we all fared back than as corpers, all is now history. Today you can beat your chest and say “I made it through after all.”  Regardless of your tout, always know that many are looking up to you and you need not disappoint them.  Therefore, be wise in your thinking, be visionary, know what you want, and take a bold step to add meaning to your life.

Finally, the duo of Ughe Emmanuel, and Eruya Vwoke  (my CDS Successor), Alpha Emmanuel, and Timi Oroye Adekunle and Tolu also played beautiful role in my PPA in making our stay epic.  I will package #MY PPA DIARY next episode for you all.

But here’s a CAVEAT: live in unity, copy the best part of our individual lifestyles, and hurt no one. Always know that this life is far bigger and wider than the picture you see daily in the PPA.

 Thanks to you all.
